Vissla & Hobie are proud to present “The Big One”, a surf swap and vintage market hosted by The Vintage Surfboard Collector Club
Celebrating over 30 years in Dana Point, this upcoming event will feature pivotal shapers and collectors from all over, with vintage boards on display, for sale, and competing in the coveted Best In Show contest.

Celebrating over 30 years in Dana Point, this upcoming event will feature pivotal shapers and collectors from all over, with vintage boards on display, for sale, and competing in the coveted Best In Show contest.
Best-In-Show “The BIG One” 60s Noserider
Criteria: The Noserider or noseriding design must be vintage, built during the 1960s. The board does not need to be a specific “model,” but it should be crafted with noseriding in mind. Judges will consider the board’s provenance, the intention and effectiveness of its shape, glasswork quality, and rarity. A standout example might be a noserider from the 1965-66 Morey Pope Noseriding Invitational.
Judges: Confirmed judges include Jeff Alter (son of Hobie Alter and Executive Director at SHACC) and Herbie Fletcher (legendary surfer). Potential additional judges are Joyce Hoffman (legend), Mickey Munoz (legend), and JJ Wessels (local surfer, shaper, and artist). Four of these participants will complete the judging panel.
Best-In-Show Contest Start: 1 PM.
Awards: Prizes include Hobie gift cards ($150 for 1st, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd), $100 gift cards from Bear Coast, and three pairs of Hobie Polarized sunglasses.
Additional Raffle: Hobie will raffle off two shaped blanks from Gary Larson and Adam Davenport. The winner is responsible for glasswork, with Hobie assisting with the facilitation of the desired glasswork.
